Buddy Holly was such a great show to be apart of and was a blast to watch every day. This was my first changeover with MSMT and we spent hours planning and preparing to switch the entire plot. One of the fun aspects was working with older Par Can lights to create the feeling of a 50s concert. I've only worked with these fixtures a handful of times so finding lamps to order and working with the old wiring was an interesting task. Additionally we wired "On Air" and "Recording" signs onto two moving platforms and made an old tape player run on a switch with a battery.
This was the first production I have worked on the video for since our projections designer worked remotely. Prior to this I had very limited Q-lab experience but worked closely with Ryan to make sure his vision was translated on stage. Primarily I worked to make the brightness of the wall work with the rest of the scenes and make on site changes during and after rehearsals to ensure the video ran smoothly with the lighting console triggers. Watching the production come together withy roles in both lighting and video made it even more special to bring to the audiences of Brunswick.
