9 to 5 is an all around fun show to be a part of. One of the special challenges of this show were the window portals on either side of the stage. There were a total of 6 portals with a varying number of window boxes lined by LED tape that each had to be individually controlled. After many hours of planning and soldering we were able to make the designer's vision a reality. Another problem we faced was the need for a 3rd spotlight operator. We only had the crew for two spotlights and a board op so I created a schedule that balanced two overhire operators, Dylan, and myself while Dylan and I were also preparing for the next changeover.
Along with my responsibilities as the Head Electrician, I was the on-site video specialist. Our projections designer worked remotely so I became the person responsible for making sure the video content worked properly and make any adjustments needed during and after rehearsals. With the help of my assistant, Dylan, we were able to move fluidly with our various responsibilities to put on this high-spirited show.
